Rhinoplasty (nose)

Changing the shape or size of your nose may be something you have wanted to do for a long time. Rhinoplasty can make a nose larger or smaller and can adjust the shape of the bridge, tip, or nostrils. The procedure can also correct crookedness, injuries, and breathing abnormalities that arise due to problems with the internal structures of the nose. The results of rhinoplasty can increase your confidence and improve the balance and proportions of your face.

During the rhinoplasty procedure, which is performed under anesthesia, incisions are made along the rims of the nostrils. By placing the incisions inconspicuously, there should be virtually no visible scarring. If the nose is being made smaller, the cartilage is carefully fractured and reset. If a bump is being removed, the excess cartilage is scraped away. Depending on the individual, rhinoplasty takes one to two hours to complete, and complete recovery takes up to a month.

Eyelids

Droopy, puffy eyes and eyelids can make you appear tired or older than you are. Cosmetic/reconstructive eyelid surgery, also called blepharoplasty, can restore the skin around your eyes to its natural, youthful appearance and drastically reduce the signs of aging. In some cases, it can even improve vision impaired by sagging lids.

The blepharoplasty procedure begins with an incision made along the eyelid. Excess fat, muscle, and skin are then trimmed away from the eyelid. This outpatient procedure, which typically takes one to three hours, is performed under anesthesia and is considered permanent in many cases (although it will not prevent natural aging). Following surgery, side effects such as dry eyes, swelling, bruising, and sensitivity to light may occur, but will fade within 10 days.

Browlift

Horizontal lines on the forehead and creases above the nose can make you look tired, sad, angry, or older than you truly are. These wrinkles are intensified by sun exposure, heredity, and weight gain or loss. Forehead lift can make the face look years—even a decade—younger by tightening and lifting forehead skin, thereby eliminating wrinkles and expression lines. The result is a more refreshed, youthful appearance.

During an endoscopic forehead lift (usually chosen by younger patients who are just developing brow wrinkles), an endoscope is inserted below the skin, and the skin and underlying muscles are lifted and tightened. The brow will heal in the new position. Liposuction of the Neck

Many people have pockets of fat in their neck that don’t respond to a reasonable diet and exercise plan. Liposuction of the neck is a surgical procedure that targets this problem area and leaves your neck more contoured and toned.

The procedure begins with a small incision in the chin. Then a thin, hollow tube is inserted into the incision, and fat cells, pockets, and tissues are vacuumed out and thrown away. Liposuction of the neck is performed on an outpatient basis under anesthesia and typically lasts two or more hours. Common side effects include temporary bruising, numbness, soreness, and burning sensations, but most of these effects will subside within a few days' or weeks' time. Once the area has healed, the patient should notice a firmer, tighter neck area.

Laser Peel

If you look older than you are because of wrinkled, sun-damaged skin, a laser peel can literally take years off your face. A laser peel removes wrinkled, sun-damaged skin. A healthy, new layer of skin regenerates within five to seven days and the new layer will have a pinkish tint. Redness may last for a few months but can be covered with make-up after a few weeks. This new skin forms new collagen, which in turn smoothes and reduces wrinkles. Anesthesia may or may not be used. Most patients resume normal work and social activities within two weeks.

Collagen

Restylane

Similar in theory to collagen but containing no animal product, Restylane is a completely safe revolutionary new treatment for the face. It is used to reduce wrinkles and folds, enhance facial contours and sculpt lips. Treatments typically take less than half an hour. Results are immediate and, depending on the patient and the treatment, last from 6 to 12 months.

Restylane is a unique combination of stabilized hyaluronic acid and physiological sodium chloride solution in the form of a clear, transparent, biodegradable gel. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance of the body responsible for adding volume to the skin, shaping the eyes, and lubricating joints. The hyaluronic acid used in Restylane is not produced from animals, so there is no risk of transmitting animal disease or activating animal-induced allergies or sensitivities.

Restylane is injected into the area to be treated using a very fine needle. Depending on the treatment, a Restylane injection will result in smoother wrinkles, less noticeable lines, sculpted lips, or a shapelier and lifted cheek or chin area. Although pain is usually not experienced, topical anesthesia is available for patients who desire it. Immediately after treatment, you might notice slight redness, tenderness, itching or swelling in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injection and disappears rather quickly. For lip sculpting, the swelling may cause lips to look misshapen and uneven, but this will disappear as the swelling dissipates.

Photofacials^sm

If you suffer from fine lines or dark circles around your eyes, fine lines around your mouth, rosacea or facial redness, shallow acne scars, age spots, broken blood vessels, large pores, or sun damage on your face, neck, chest, arms or back of hands, a photofacial^sm may help reverse these signs of aging.

During this 30-minute procedure, one of our trained medical professionals will use a machine to emit intense light pulses to the damaged area. This light penetrates all levels of the skin and the blood vessels and collagen to tighten.

Some patients experience minor discomfort during the treatment, but a topical cream applied prior to the photofacial^sm eliminates most of the discomfort. Photofacial^sm can cause redness, but this usually disappears within twenty-four hours. If skin is severely sun-damaged, swelling of the treated area may occur but usually diminishes within three to five days.

Our doctor will determine the number of treatments necessary but patients will see a visible reduction of fine lines and wrinkles a few weeks after treatment. Photofacial^sm will not help deep wrinkles or frown lines, so the procedure may be coupled with other facial rejuvenation methods such as a brow lift, collagen or BOTOX®Cosmetic injections.

VelaSmooth

VelaSmooth: The newest and only Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved devise that has been proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite; uses both heat and massage to smooth the skin. The non-surgical instrument combines two sources of energy, infrared light and radio frequency, with rollers that manipulate the tissue. These two energies together send heat into the tissue more deeply than existing treatments, which helps break down fat within cells and shrink the cells.

"I think it's the best thing out there right now for cellulite," says Dr. Tina S.
